April 5th: Intro to Canoe 

Grunwald Farms Forest Preserve – Elburn, IL

Looking to get started with canoeing? Join ACA-accredited instructor Steve Voss for a beginner-friendly instructional session at Grunwald Farms Forest Preserve. This hands-on course follows the American Canoe Association syllabus and covers everything from essential gear to paddling techniques, ensuring you gain confidence on calm waters.


Participants will learn how to properly fit gear and safely position themselves in the canoe, the essential gear and its use, and techniques to effectively and efficiently paddle the boat in all directions. Participants will also learn launching and landing techniques, the relationship between body movement, boat control, and paddle strokes, paddling concepts and dynamics, fundamental strokes, turning techniques, and how to handle a capsize situation. It costs $30 for Prairie State Canoeists (PSC) members and $50 for non-members. ACA membership is required to participate. Attendees must either provide an ACA member number or purchase a $10 one-day membership at check-in.


April 5th: 1st Annual Color Outside the Lines 5K and Family Fair

Celebrate the season with the St. Charles Park District Easter Egg Hunt on April 12th at Pottawatomie Park! Families are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early to receive instructions and locate their designated egg hunt area based on age groups. Don’t forget to bring a basket for collecting eggs, and parents are kindly asked to keep children behind all lines until the official start signal is given to ensure a fair experience for everyone.


This festive hunt will take place rain or shine, and to make sure there are plenty of eggs for all participants, each child is kindly asked to limit their collection to 10 eggs. No registration is required—just show up and enjoy the fun!


April 12th: Chicago Steel Hockey Game Awareness Event and Fundraiser 

Fox Valley Ice Arena – Geneva, IL

April 12th: Doggie Egg Hunt 

River Bend Community Park – St. Charles, IL

Bring your four-legged friend and join the fun as dogs sniff out eggs filled with treats and prizes. When your pup touches a plastic egg with their nose, it goes straight into your basket! All participating dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash (maximum of 6 feet), be current on vaccinations, and wear visible tags. Each dog must be accompanied by at least one person aged 16 or older. The event is just $5 per dog, so don’t miss out on this paws-itively fun experience!


April 12th: Bunny Breakfast & Egg Hunt

Kick off Easter weekend with a fun-filled morning at the Bunny Breakfast & Egg Hunt on April 12th. Start the day with a delicious pancake breakfast before or after the Annual Egg Hunt, and don’t miss the chance to snap a photo with the Easter Bunny! The Egg Hunt begins promptly at 10:00 AM and is a FREE event! Thousands of eggs will be scattered across the soccer fields at SPRC, with designated areas for different age groups: ages 4 & younger and ages 5 & older. Arrive early and bring your own basket to join in on the fun! The Bunny Breakfast will be served buffet-style in the SPRC Gymnasium. Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available during breakfast from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM, so be sure to bring your camera or phone!


Pre-registration is required for the breakfast as space is limited. The cost is $5 per person ($8 for non-residents). Children under one year old can attend for free but must still be registered. Registration opens on March 4th for residents and March 11th for non-residents.

April 12th: Easter Egg Hunt 

Clark Island Recreation Area, Batavia, IL

Get ready for a morning of festive fun at the annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 12th at Clark Island Recreation Area in Batavia, IL! April 12th: Clark Island Recreation Area Celebration & Ribbon Cutting

Celebrate the exciting updates to Clark Island Recreation Area with a free family-friendly event on April 12th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM! This community gathering will feature a morning filled with activities, demonstrations, and the highly anticipated ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 AM.

Kick off the celebration with the Easter Egg Hunt at 10:00 AM sharp. Make sure to arrive early—parking will be limited, and you won’t want to miss the fun! Throughout the event, enjoy a variety of activities, including a bounce house, DJ, crafts, yard games, face painting, and sponsor booths. Don't forget to snap a picture with the Easter Bunny and Bruce the Spruce! Food will be available for purchase.

Attendees will also get a chance to check out the new amenities at Clark Island, including the fitness court, skate park, and bike pump track. There will be free fitness, biking, skateboarding, and fishing demonstrations for all ages. Bring your skateboards, bikes, and scooters and try out the new equipment!

As part of the celebration, guests can participate in fitness classes at the new outdoor fitness court:

  • 10:00 – 10:20 AM: Jukebox Dance Fitness – A fun, low-impact cardio class featuring dance moves from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.

  • 11:00 – 11:20 AM: WERQ – A high-energy dance fitness class set to trending pop and hip-hop music.


April 12th: Live Music at Studio 64 – Old School DJ Dance Party

Get ready to step back in time and dance the night away as Studio 64 transforms into a New York-style Studio 54 experience right in the heart of St. Charles! Older kids can get in on the Easter fun with an exciting Flashlight Egg Hunt at Prairie Path Park! On April 11th, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, children ages 9 to 12 can bring their flashlights and bags to search for hidden eggs under the night sky. Each participant will receive a glow stick to light the way, and those lucky enough to find a Golden Egg will win a special prize. The registration fee is $15, and participants must bring their own flashlight and bag for collecting eggs.

The Easter Egg Hunt will kick off at 2:00 PM sharp, followed by plenty of opportunities for photo ops with the Easter Bunny. This is a free, no-ticket-required event, so bring the kids and don’t forget your phone to capture all the cute moments! Note that there will not be a photographer on-site, so make sure to bring your camera or phone.


April 13th: Underwater Egg Hunt 

Norris Recreation Center – St. Charles, IL

Join the Easter Bunny for a unique twist on the classic egg hunt at the Underwater Egg Hunt on April 13th at the Norris Recreation Center in St. Charles. Kids will dive into the shallow end of the pool to search for Easter eggs, with parents allowed to assist younger children. After the hunt, stay, swim, and take photos with the Easter Bunny until 2:00 PM. The event is divided into different time slots based on age, ranging from 12:15 PM to 1:25 PM for age groups from 3-4 years old to 11-12 years old. April 16th: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Celebrate Easter with a fun and festive morning at Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on April 16th at the Pottawatomie Community Center in St. Charles. Enjoy a delicious breakfast featuring pancakes from Alexander’s Café 64, sausage, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and water, and get creative by decorating your own bunny-face pancake with decorating supplies! After breakfast, have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny, create a special craft, and join in on the Bunny Hop to wrap up the event. This two-day event invites Geneva residents to hold garage sales and find amazing deals all around the city. If you want to participate as a seller, be sure to register by April 4th to take advantage of early bird pricing for just $30. After April 4th, the registration fee increases to $35. By registering, you'll have your sale location and items included in both printed and online maps, which will be distributed by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. They’ll handle all advertising, signage, and map distribution, so you can focus on your sale and keep all the profits! The maps, signs, and instructions will be available for pick-up at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce between 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on April 24th, with a possibility of earlier availability.

April 26, 2025: Fox Trot Run/Walk 

Peg Bond Center – Batavia, IL

Get ready for the friendliest race along the Fox River! The Fox Trot Run/Walk 2025 is hosted by the Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation and will take place on April 26th in downtown Batavia, Illinois. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just looking for a fun way to get moving, this event offers something for everyone. The 10K and 5K races will start at 8:00 AM, and the kids' fun run begins at 8:45 AM. The race starts and ends near the Peg Bond Center, following the scenic Fox River Trail through Batavia.


If you’re aiming to run, medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in the men’s and women’s 5K and 10K categories. Be sure to pick up your race packet ahead of time on Friday, April 25th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pal Joey’s in Batavia, or on race day from 6:45 AM to 7:30 AM at the Peg Bond Center. Remember, all funds raised from this event will go back into supporting local community programs.

April 26, 2025: Pickleball Tournament 

Civic Center Gym – Batavia, IL

Get ready for an exciting day of pickleball action! On Saturday, April 26, the Batavia Park District is hosting a mixed doubles pickleball tournament at the Civic Center Gym in Batavia. Teams, consisting of one male and one female player, are invited to compete in a friendly but competitive event with six guaranteed games per team. Bracket play will be based on the teams' records, and the top-performing teams will receive medals.


The tournament will be divided into three skill levels: Beginners from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (rating below 2.99), Intermediate players from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM (rating between 3.0-3.49), and Advanced players from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (rating between 3.5-4.0). Register as a team, you do not need a rating to sign up, but each player will need to register with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) before playing. After the tournament, each participant will receive their personal DUPR rating. The cost is $80 per team.

April 27, 2025: Park Poker Pursuit
